Very Low Sugar Homemade BBQ Sauce

1 small onion, minced
1 clove garlic, minced or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 small can (6 oz) tomato paste
1 can (12 oz)  diet coke,  Diet A&W cream soda, or Diet Dr. Pepper
1 T vinegar
3 tsp yellow or brown mustard
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Hot sauce to taste (I prefer chipotle hot sauce)

Over medium heat, cook onion in a 2 quart saucepan for 5 mins, stirring occasionally.  If using real garlic

add that in the beginning also.

Add all the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 30-40 mins, stirring occasionally.  Mix and match diet sodas to make unique flavors.  Great for HCG Phase 3. I like it on Phase 2 also.
